I love the look of a good summer tan, but I hate lying out in the sun. Obviously, too much sun is bad for your skin, but I also get incredibly bored. I prefer to fake the sun-kissed look with self-tanner and face bronzer. For years, I’ve turned to Benefit Cosmetics’ Hula Bronzer. But I recently gave Tower 28 Beauty’s Bronzino Illuminating Cream Bronzer a try — and I’m never going back.
The illuminating bronzing balm gives me a more natural-looking glow with a slight sheen (no shimmer). So my face radiates like I’m fresh off the beach. It’s super blendable, buildable and — just take a look at my before and after picture below:
I’m a little embarrassed to admit that the first time I heard about Tower 28 Beauty’s bronzer was when Hilary Duff graced the May 2022 cover of Women’s Health magazine, wearing nothing but a little bit of makeup. Her makeup was exactly the vibe I’m going for this summer — natural and simple, yet shimmery and a little sexy.

The makeup artist behind the look, Kelsey Deenihan Fisher, revealed on her own Instagram that she used the popular Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint Foundation, Chanel Rouge Coco Baume Lip Balm and Sol de Janeiro Glowmotions Glow Body Oil on Duff. All three have been sold out ever since.
However, she also used the Tower 28 Beauty Bronzino Illuminating Cream Bronzer in the West Coast shade. And somehow, it never went out of stock. I purchased the West Coast shade because my hair and skin tone is similar to Duff’s. However, it comes in five different shades of bronze.
I never go anywhere without applying this bronzer. Even if I don’t feel like wearing makeup, I use my fingertips to apply a tinted sunscreen moisturizer (like EltaMD’s) and top it with this. I have sensitive and oily skin too, so I worried that a balm would feel thick or sticky. But it’s incredibly lightweight and soft to the touch.
If you’ve never heard of Tower 28 Beauty, the clean beauty brand prides itself on being vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free. The bronzing cream contains natural ingredients like green tea extract, an antioxidant known for its calming effects, and mango butter to moisturize and nourish the skin. So it looks good, feels good and is good for your skin — wins all around in my book.
Seriously, I can’t rave about Tower 28 Beauty’s cream bronzer enough. You need to try it.
